Becca and I had lunch at a lovely old inn that dated to 1716. After that we headed to Emerson's home and then on to the Old North Bridge and the site of the beginning of our Revolutionary War. Two tidbits we learned: Emerson's father lived next door to the site. No wonder that Emerson coined the phrase "the shot heard round the world". His father had witnessed the event.
Next: Daniel Fecit, who sculpted the Minute Man statue, had been a student of May Alcott. In fact, she had bought him his first sculpting tools. He was also the sculptor of the statue of Lincoln in the Lincoln Memorial....
