Grandieur and Gargoyles
The Biltmore outdid itself this Christmas. Jim and Carole graciously allowed me to accompany them on their tour of this gorgeous home for the Christmas Season. These are just some of the examples of its grand attention to the most minute of detail. The gargoyles are on every corner and nook of the mansion....and oh, how many corners and nooks there are! Here are but some of the stone art of this mansion! My favorite sight of the entire house during the daylight hours was the center picture in this blog. I truly think the artist captured the face of Joan of Arc. The pain, the faith, the calling of God on her life are all so poignantly portrayed. It was a silent reminder to me of the weight and enduring nature of His call on our lives. It called to mind, or to heart, that this is NOT the end, that there is, indeed, an eternity when all will be made right. Until that time, even amidst the pain and sorrow and difficulty of the path, we are assured that "all is well."
